Projected value of Azerbaijan's public debt at year-end revealed

In the first half of 2026, Azerbaijan complied with the ceiling on total public debt servicing expenditures (no more than 10% of state budget expenditures), as stipulated in the Medium- and Long-Term Public Debt Management Strategy, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance's document titled "Report on the Execution of the 2026 State and Consolidated Budgets for the First Half of the Year and Expectations for Year-End," Report informs.
According to the document, the ratio of public debt servicing expenditures to state budget expenditures was 5.6%.
By January 1 of next year, total public debt is projected to reach 27.604 billion manats. External public debt will amount to $4.833 billion, while domestic debt will amount to 19.387 billion manats.
It is expected that 59.5% of external public debt will be repaid within the next five years, 34.9% within 5-10 years, and 5.6% within more than 10 years.
New external borrowing is expected to be raised at the relevant base rate plus a margin of 0.5-1.5%.
It is projected that 55.3% of domestic public debt will consist of government bonds issued on domestic financial markets.
At the end of the year, 51% of outstanding government bonds are expected to be bonds with maturities of up to 5 years, and 49% will be bonds with maturities of 5 years or more.
