The memorial complex in Ganja, centered around a museum, is dedicated to crimes against the Azerbaijani people and the consequences of Armenian military aggression, Ramil Jahangirov, representative of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, told journalists, as quoted by Report.
Founded in 2022 by President Ilham Aliyev, the complex is built on the location targeted by Armenian missile strikes in October 2020. The museum spans 2,400 square meters and is designed in a spiral shape, symbolizing a missile's trajectory, while the building itself resembles a crescent.
The exhibition covers tragic chapters of history-from early 20th-century events and deportations of Azerbaijanis to the Khojaly genocide, the 1990s war, attacks on peaceful Ganja in 2020, and mine-related terror. Separate halls focus on discovered mass graves, the fate of internally displaced persons, and Azerbaijan's restoration of sovereignty in 2023.
An open-air section of the complex displays remnants of residential buildings and civil infrastructure destroyed by the Armenian missile strikes, allowing visitors to witness the tangible impact of the attacks.
