MP: Ilham Aliyev's remarks signal Nakhchivan's key role in Azerbaijan's development

The remarks voiced by President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Nakhchivan indicate that the region will continue to hold an important place in Azerbaijan's economic and regional development in the coming period, MP Sabir Hajiyev told Report.

He noted that Nakhchivan occupies an important place in Azerbaijan's overall economic, transport and energy policy, while its geographical position gives it special importance both for Azerbaijan and the region.

"Recently, important work has been carried out to renew infrastructure in Nakhchivan. Energy opportunities have been expanded, and new social projects have been implemented. Now, larger economic projects lie ahead. The creation of the Nakhchivan Industrial Park is of special importance in this regard. The launch of new enterprises here will make it possible to increase production and create new jobs," he said.

"Nakhchivan also has great energy potential. Favorable opportunities for the use of solar energy create conditions for the implementation of new projects in this area. The transition to green energy is one of the main priorities in the world. Nakhchivan's active participation in this process will further increase the future economic opportunities of the Autonomous Republic," Hajiyev added.

The MP believes that the restoration of a land connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan will have a serious impact on the development of the Autonomous Republic.

"With the implementation of the Zangazur Corridor, or the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), Nakhchivan's ties with other regions of our country will become even stronger. At the same time, Nakhchivan can play a greater role in the international transport and logistics system," he said.

Hajiyev noted that this process will create new opportunities not only for Nakhchivan, but for the region as a whole.

"The expansion of transport links along the East-West and North-South routes will increase Azerbaijan's transit opportunities. Nakhchivan can also benefit greatly from these opportunities," he added.

Recalling that Nakhchivan's social development is also a priority, Hajiyev said the creation of new residential complexes, social housing and modern service centers serves to improve people's living conditions.
