MP: New development chronicle being written for Nakhchivan

A new development chronicle is being written for Nakhchivan, MP Vugar Rahimzada told Report.

He noted that the socio-economic development of the regions forms the basis of the state's economic policy.

"Our country, which has a favorable geographical location and rich economic potential, is using these resources effectively and is in the spotlight both as a driving force of regional development and for its place and position in world politics," he said.

Rahimzada noted that the successes brought to Azerbaijan by the oil strategy defined by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, are clearly reflected in today's realities.

According to him, the efficient use of oil revenues and ensuring a high level of transparency play an important role in the successful implementation of the policy of economic diversification.

The MP also touched on ensuring economic growth through the non-oil sector. He emphasized the effective use of the potential of the regions in connection with the transformation of oil capital into human capital.

Rahimzada stressed that the head of state's visits to the regions and his close familiarization with the work carried out provide a strong incentive for achieving the set goals at a high level.

The MP said the large-scale renewal being carried out in Nakhchivan is not limited to the economy, social life and infrastructure. Improving public administration based on modern requirements is also one of the important directions of the new development model.

"On March 10, 2026, President Ilham Aliyev approved the Constitutional Law on amendments to the Constitution of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and signed an order on the application of that law. The constitutional reforms formed the legal foundations of the new governance model. The adopted amendments contain important provisions in terms of renewing the governance structure and clarifying the division of powers in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic," he said.

Rahimzada also recalled that the industrial park was established by a decree signed by the Azerbaijani president in 2024.

"In order to organize the activities of the Nakhchivan Industrial Park, it is initially planned to make the area suitable for use, and at the next stage to create external and internal infrastructure, including electricity and heat supply, gas, water, communications, transport, production, administrative, social and other facilities," he said.

According to the MP, the industrial park, located in the southwestern part of Nakhchivan city, south of the Nakhchivan-Sadarak highway, will cover an area of 310 hectares.

"Negotiations are already underway on a number of projects to attract potential entrepreneurs to the industrial park," Rahimzada added.

He said the visit of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to Nakhchivan is a very important and remarkable page for the future of the autonomous republic.

"In short, a new development chronicle is being written for Nakhchivan," Rahimzada said.
