Expert: Strengthening Azerbaijan-UAE cooperation will attract foreign investment

Strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will help expand these countries' global economic influence, attract foreign investments and intensify cooperation with Mediterranean countries, American journalist, human rights and national security activist Irina Tsukerman told Report.

"Baku can be an important intermediary in the development of trade relations with Turkiye, which has begun to enter the sphere of interest of the UAE," she said.

According to the expert, there is ground for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UAE in matters such as green energy, climate change, construction of smart cities, high technologies and renewable energy sources.

"The climate of these countries is suitable for wind energy. Leading energy companies in Azerbaijan and the UAE are currently taking initiatives to achieve their country's renewable energy targets."

Tsukerman emphasized that the role of Azerbaijan in the Arab world is increasing and this is due to several factors: "First, the importance of Azerbaijan on the world scale is increasing, especially after liberating its territories from the occupation in 2020. Secondly, due to the energy crisis in Europe, official Baku has strengthened its role as an energy supplier. The importance of Azerbaijan is increasing among the oil-producing countries that are members of OPEC."
