Only 15% of Sustainable Development Goals on track, Bosnia and Herzegovina UN rep says

Only 15% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are on track to be achieved, while regression has been recorded for another 15% of indicators compared to 2015, Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN and former Prime Minister of the country Zlatko Lagumdzija stated at a round table during Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW 2026), Report informs.

Lagumdzija noted that about two-thirds of the SDGs will most likely not be reached within the established timeframe.

He pointed out that the most significant progress is observed in areas such as internet access, digital transformation, and renewable energy.

At the same time, according to him, the worst results were recorded for SDG 16, related to peace and security, and SDG 2, dedicated to ending hunger and ensuring food security.

He also noted that out of the six main transformation pathways-education, healthcare, energy, sustainable land use and food, sustainable cities, and digital transformation-governments pay the most attention to digital technologies and energy.

Meanwhile, according to public assessments, the weakest results are observed in sustainable food and land use, as well as sustainable urban development.

"It is in these areas that we need to make additional efforts and pay special attention," Lagumdzija emphasized.
