Azerbaijan starts exporting sunflower seeds to Türkiye

Azerbaijan imported 2,302 tons of sunflower seeds (+50%) worth $3.6 million (+37%%) in the first half of this year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan received 857 tons (+5.7%) worth $1.7 million (+16.3%) from China, 665.7 tons (+16%) worth $1.3 million (+29%) from Türkiye, 733 tons (+18 times) worth $523,000 (+11 times) from Russia, 38.1 tons worth $55,200 from Egypt (first delivery), and 2.1 tons worth $29,000 from Chile (supply resumed after 11 years and 2months).

In the first six months of 2023, Azerbaijan exported 274 tons (+91%) of sunflower seeds worth $439,000 (+2.7 times).

Azerbaijan supplied 106.3 tons of the product worth $236,000 to Türkiye, 167 tons (+17 %) worth $200,900 (+26%) to Georgia, 200 kg worth $900 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and 100 kg (no supply a year ago) worth $800 to Qatar.

The country exported sunflower seeds to Türkiye and the UAE for the first time in 12 years (official statistics on foreign trade in public use are as of 2011).
