The formation of a single transit operator for the Middle Corridor can create conditions for ensuring transparency and operational efficiency along this route, Advisor to the Director of Baku Port Khudayar Hasanli said at an international conference held within the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, the activities of more than 10 transport companies along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and the deepening of cooperation between customs authorities are of great importance in terms of coordination.
"Stakeholders face port infrastructure challenges, such as the limited capacity of a single-lane access channel and a 40-day winter navigation period per year. Expanding the channel and creating a shared IT platform with shipping companies for schedule-based fleet planning will help eliminate these obstacles," he said.
