The Special Council on Sustainable Connectivity of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is designed to promote cooperation in sustainable transport infrastructure, multimodal corridors, digital logistics, green mobility, and smoother trade and transit flows, CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay stated during the international conference "The Role of Ports in Regional Connectivity and Strategic Cooperation" held in Baku, Report informs.
He emphasized that for landlocked member states, sustainable connectivity with maritime infrastructure is an essential condition for their full integration into regional and global trade.
"For CICA, connectivity represents a concrete practical measure to build confidence. The idea of establishing a Special Council on Sustainable Connectivity as an advisory body of CICA was initiated at the highest political level. The substance of this initiative remains highly relevant today-to stimulate dialogue and practical interaction in sustainable transport infrastructure, multimodal corridors, digitalized logistics, environmentally sustainable mobility, and the optimization of trade and transit flows," Sarybay stated.
He added that dialogue on transport communications, trade facilitation, and professional contacts is capable of strengthening mutual understanding, predictability, and shared interests across the diverse region.
