Kazakhstan, Germany plan closer energy security cooperation

Kazakhstan and Germany plan to cooperate on energy security, including oil and gas supplies to Europe.

According to Report, this was stated in a declaration adopted by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier following Tokayev's official visit to Berlin.

"The presidents welcome close cooperation aimed at strengthening energy security and diversifying the sources and routes of energy supplies, including oil and gas, to Europe," the document said.

The sides also intend to develop cooperation within the Kazakhstan-Germany Energy Dialogue and through the H2-Diplo office in Astana to improve the reliability of energy supplies, develop energy corridors, decarbonize industry, and expand the use of renewable energy sources and green hydrogen.

Astana and Berlin also welcomed cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Germany in the C5+1 format and said they looked forward to a new summit in the near future.
