Tokayev, Steinmeier sign joint declaration in Berlin

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier signed a joint declaration in Berlin following their talks.

According to Report, citing Akorda, the document states that the presidents reaffirmed their support for the strategic regional partnership between Central Asia and Germany, launched at the first Central Asia-Germany Summit in Berlin on September 29, 2023.

They supported holding the first forum in the German federal state of Saarland in summer 2027 and the possibility of holding a subsequent forum in Kazakhstan in 2028.

Tokayev expressed gratitude to Steinmeier for the invitation to visit Germany, noting that the high intensity of contacts at the highest level reflects the strategic and comprehensive nature of bilateral cooperation.

He said Germany is a key partner for Kazakhstan in Europe and that there remains significant potential for developing practical cooperation.

"In 2025, bilateral trade reached $4.5 billion. Positive momentum has continued this year. In the first seven months of the current year, mutual trade exceeded $2.6 billion. More than 1,400 companies with German capital are currently registered in Kazakhstan. Over the past 20 years, cumulative investment inflows from Germany have amounted to $8 billion," Tokayev said.

He cited cooperation with leading German companies including CLAAS Group, Rhenus Logistics, Siemens Energy and Linde as examples of successful bilateral engagement.

Steinmeier, in turn, said Tokayev's visit would give additional impetus to bilateral relations and raise them to a qualitatively new level.
