Poll: 56% of French population support national strike

Some 56% of the population in France expressed support for a nationwide strike against planned government spending cuts, according to a poll conducted by the French channel BFMTV, Report informs.
According to the data, 25% of French people are opposed, while 18% said they "don't care." The remaining respondents declined to comment. The protests caused disruptions to public transportation in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, and Nantes.
To maintain order during the strike and protests, authorities have deployed approximately 80,000 police officers and gendarmes.
More than 250 demonstrations are currently taking place across France to protest the planned government spending cuts.
