Azerbaijan's Aykhan Javadov becomes U20 world champion for second time

Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) has won the gold medal at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.

According to Report, Javadov faced Uzbekistan's Dostonbek Oripov in the final. A four-point move executed by the Azerbaijani wrestler in the first period proved decisive as he secured a 4-1 victory.

Javadov successfully defended his title and became a U20 world champion for the second consecutive time.

Meanwhile, Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) won bronze after defeating Türkiye's Ismail Barek 7-1 in the bronze-medal bout. Aliyev took control from the opening minutes and maintained his advantage throughout the match.

Zahra Karimizade (72 kg) lost to Russia's Liliana Kazmina by fall in her bronze-medal bout and finished fifth.

With these results, Azerbaijan's medal tally at the championships has reached five. Earlier, Javidan Nehmatov (77 kg) won silver, while Emin Javadli (55 kg) and Tural Ahmadov (63 kg) secured bronze medals.
