Yemeni Houthi rebels from the Ansar Allah movement launched a large-scale attack on the port of Mocha on the Red Sea coast, sparking a fire at the facility.
Report informs, citing Al Arabiya, that the Houthis used missiles, drones and boats to attack the port and civilian facilities along Yemen's western coast.
According to a military source cited by the broadcaster, government forces managed to shoot down 15 of the 44 drones launched in the attack.
The Houthis also attempted to attack an oil tanker near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Six explosive-laden boats were involved in the attack, three of which were intercepted by government forces.
Eight Ansar Allah fighters were reportedly killed as the attack was repelled off the coast of the Wahdjah area.
In response, government forces carried out dozens of drone strikes against Houthi positions along Yemen's western coast. Artillery shelling of rebel targets west of the city of Taiz is also continuing.
The conflict between Saudi-backed government forces and the Houthis in Yemen has continued since August 2014.
