Around 100 people have been killed in a gold mine collapse on the border between Cameroon and the Central African Republic.
According to CameroonOnline, cited by Report, the incident occurred at a gold mine in the border area.
Several foreign media outlets have also reported that the death toll has reached 107.
CAR Ombudsman Laurent Ngon-Baba said that authorities are currently finding it difficult to establish the official number of victims. Rescue operations are ongoing at the site.
According to one of the miners, workers may still be trapped under the rubble. The cause of the accident has not yet been established.
