Czech Republic closes borders as coronavirus cases soar

The Czech Republic has closed its borders to citizens of all foreign countries due to the worsening situation with the coronavirus, Report informs, citing the Czech Radio.
The restriction will be in effect from January 30 until February 15.
Exceptions will apply to foreigners who study, work, or have a residence permit in the country. It will also be possible to enter the Czech Republic to see the next of kin, receive medical assistance, participate in weddings or funerals.
The country has reported more than 972,000 coronavirus cases and 16,000 deaths since the onset of the pandemic.
