Azerbaijan plans to launch flights to at least four new target tourism destinations by the end of 2030 and increase the frequency of existing routes by 20%, according to the State Program on the Development of Tourism for 2026–2030, approved today by President Ilham Aliyev, Report informs.
The program also envisages increasing the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan by achieving competitive air ticket prices compared with regional rival destinations in at least 10 target tourism markets.
To increase the share of regional airports in international passenger traffic, the program calls for measures to attract international flights and low-cost airlines.
These measures will include developing and agreeing on incentive and compensation mechanisms related to airport charges, ground handling fees and passenger load factors.
The initiatives are aimed at improving air connectivity, expanding access to Azerbaijan's tourism destinations and supporting the growth of international tourist arrivals.
