UNDP Representative: Mined territories pose great threat to civilians

The mined areas pose a great threat to civilians, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Azerbaijan Charu Bist said at a conference dedicated to the International Mine Awareness Day, Report informs.
She noted that dangerous territories must be turned into safe ones, and UNDP, together with other UN agencies, is ready to support the Azerbaijani government in this.
Charu Bist also noted that UNDP has been cooperating with the Mine Action Agency of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) since 1999 and is ready to continue this cooperation by providing expert knowledge and equipment for specialists.
