Azerbaijan, Türkiye should achieve superior results in AI

Azerbaijan and Türkiye must outperform other countries in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), Fariz Jafarov, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) under Azerbaijan's Economy Ministry, told journalists on the sidelines of the INMerge Innovation Summit 2025 held in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that the newly adopted "AI Strategy for 2025–2028" will yield strong results through a series of implementation measures: "In this regard, we will cooperate with Türkiye. Azerbaijan and Türkiye must deliver results that set the benchmark. We should reach a point where we look to our own achievements-not those of Harvard, Stanford, or others."

Jafarov emphasized that there have already been many successes in this field: "We believe our cooperation with Türkiye will continue. We are ready to support Türkiye in areas where we can contribute. The signed Memorandum of Understanding will not remain on paper-we will oversee its implementation and take joint steps forward."

He added that AI has been applied across various sectors in recent years. Supporting entrepreneurs in AI is one of Azerbaijan's key priorities, including creating opportunities and offering incentives: "That's why we saw cooperation with Türkiye as essential. We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Artificial Intelligence Policy Association (AIPA) of Türkiye. The goal is to collaborate with Turkish AI companies to support businesses operating in production, logistics, and other sectors in Azerbaijan. This will reduce costs, increase efficiency, and allow AI to take over repetitive tasks currently performed by humans."

Jafarov also mentioned ideas for a joint AI program between Azerbaijan and Türkiye: "This includes creating a corpus for the Azerbaijani language. Relevant institutions are working in this direction. AI operates on large datasets, and each language has its own unique characteristics. Pilot projects involving AI in various fields are also planned with Türkiye."
