ASK calls for support for agricultural logistics companies

Support mechanisms should be introduced for logistics companies involved in delivering agricultural products to consumers in Azerbaijan, Ziya Hajili, Secretary-General of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan (ASK), made the remarks at the 3rd International Agribusiness Forum in Baku, Report informs.

"The new subsidy rules will bring certain changes to the sector. However, I would very much like to see work begin on developing support mechanisms for logistics companies involved in delivering agricultural products to end consumers, as this is a very important issue.

For now, it does not seem realistic to place this responsibility entirely on farmers. The relevant authorities could consider an appropriate support mechanism to help this sector remain viable during a certain period and encourage logistics companies to take an active interest in this part of the supply chain," he said.
