Azerbaijan's agricultural sector will achieve sustainable development by 2030, said Natig Amirov, Assistant to the President, Head of the Department of Economic Policy and Industrial Issues of the Presidential Administration, according to Report's correspondent in Saatli.
"The main goal is not simply to increase production volumes, but to ensure the transition from an extensive to an intensive development model. The State Program is aimed at strengthening food security, boosting productivity, and enhancing export potential," he said during a regional meeting on the Mil-Mughan Economic Zone within the framework of the State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Production and Processing in Azerbaijan for 2026–2030.
The official added that the program envisions expanding modern irrigation systems, increasing wheat and cotton yields, enlarging areas of intensive orchards and greenhouses, and raising production of meat, milk, eggs, and aquaculture products.
"Efficient use of water and land resources is one of the key priorities of the State Program. The introduction of modern irrigation systems, improvement of on-farm irrigation networks, cleaning of canals, and raising farmers' awareness are of particular importance in this regard," he said.
