Azerbaijani PM, WCO chief discuss customs cooperation

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met on July 13 with Ian Saunders, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), to discuss cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization, Report informs, citing the Cabinet of Ministers.

The meeting expressed satisfaction with the development of long-term and effective partnership between Azerbaijan and the World Customs Organization.

The sides discussed consistent reforms carried out in Azerbaijan's customs system and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the WCO in applying international standards.

They exchanged views on projects related to facilitating international trade, modernizing customs procedures and ensuring the resilience of global supply chains.

The meeting also touched on expanding customs cooperation within regional and international transport corridors, particularly the development of the Middle Corridor and the strengthening of transit potential.

The sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the WCO in various areas.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov also attended the meeting.
