Turkey’s tourism revenues down over 40%

From January through March this year, tourism revenues in Turkey decreased by 40.2 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to $2.452 billion, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Report informs referring to foreign media.

Some 68.8 percent of tourism revenues (excluding roaming and shipping charges) came from foreign visitors and 31.2 percent from Turkish citizens living abroad.

In the structure of expenses in the sector, $2.296 billion or 93.7 percent were personal expenses, $155 million or 6.3 percent were travel packages.
