Rubio says US sanctions Cuban entities, individuals over arms procurement

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States has sanctioned five Cuban entities and eight individuals associated with procuring arms for the Cuban government, Report informs, citing Rubio's post on X.

Rubio accused the Cuban government of being "a state sponsor of terrorism" and of spying on the United States, arming "violent left-wing radicals," spreading "poisonous Marxist ideology," and serving as "a staging ground" for Russia, China and Iran near US shores.

He said the sanctions were imposed on entities and individuals linked to arms procurement for the Cuban authorities.

Rubio also cited US President Donald Trump as saying that the United States "will not tolerate a rogue state harboring hostile military, intelligence and terror operations" near its territory.

According to Rubio, anyone supporting, sponsoring or providing services to the sanctioned actors risks being sanctioned themselves.

He also said foreign banks and other companies that provide services to, or hold funds for, the sanctioned entities should end those activities immediately.
