Israel has summoned Spain's chargé d'affaires, Francisca Pedrós, over recent remarks by Spanish Youth Minister Sira Rego, Report informs via The Times of Israel.
Gilad Cohen, head of the ministry's Political-Strategic Affairs Directorate, expressed Israel's dissatisfaction to the Spanish diplomat over Rego's statement that Spanish society supports a Palestinian state "from the river to the sea."
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said the statement was part of what it described as a "systematic anti-Israel policy" pursued by the Spanish government and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
The ministry also criticized Sánchez over his stance toward Israel's actions in its confrontation with Iran and Hamas.
Israel previously banned Rego from entering the country in September 2025.
