Azerbaijan, despite having a predominantly Muslim population, is a secular state where everyone is free to practice their religion, Filipino traveler Kim Carlo De Dios has said.
According to Report's correspondent in Karabakh, De Dios made the remarks during a visit to the region. He represents the international travel clubs Most Traveled People (MTP) and Philippine Global Explorers (PJE).
He said it was his first visit to Azerbaijan and that he was impressed by Karabakh's Christian historical monuments.
"I know that Azerbaijan is a predominantly Muslim country, but this region is somewhat different from other parts of the country. Here, we saw churches and other monuments of Christian culture. At the same time, Azerbaijan is a secular state where everyone is free to practice any religion," the traveler noted.
De Dios also shared his impressions of visiting ancient monasteries. He said the Ganjasar Monastery complex particularly caught his attention because of its scale and the number of historical sites it contains.
The traveler added that he was satisfied with his trip and would like to visit Karabakh again in the future.
