Ismail Serageldin: Cities should grow and be in constant contact with environment

Cities are also living organisms. As such, they too should expand, grow, and be in constant contact with the environment, Ismail Serageldin, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, said at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that when urban growth is accepted as a reality over time, the process becomes easier to understand.

Ismail Serageldin also emphasized the importance of a vision for future urban development in conservation.

"When preserving, we must consider both the people of today and tourists, as well as the people of tomorrow. At the same time, climate, weather conditions, geographic location, and other factors must be taken into account," he noted.
