Ukraine claims attack on Syzran oil refinery in Russia

Ukraine has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the Syzran oil refinery in Russia's Samara Region, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), said on Telegram, according to Report.

"Syzran oil refinery - minus," Kovalenko wrote.

According to Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+, a series of explosions occurred near the facility, after which thick smoke rose above the refinery's territory.

No official comments from Russian authorities regarding the extent of the damage had been released at the time of publication.

The Syzran oil refinery is part of the structure of the company Rosneft and is one of the largest oil-processing enterprises in Russia"s Samara Region.
