Chinese woman, 55, contracts plague

A 55-year-old resident of China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has contracted the plague, said the Regional Committee for Hygiene and Health.

Thus, the sick woman is engaged in animal husbandry, and her condition is critical. The first symptoms of the disease appeared on August 14. The Chinese government has already launched an ambulance service to prevent the spread of a dangerous infection.

According to the committee, plague is reported from time to time in the northern part of the country and in neighboring Mongolia due to meat consumption.
