Number of hired employees in Azerbaijan rises 0.9%

As of July 1, 2026, the number of hired employees in Azerbaijan increased by 0.9% compared with July 1, 2025, reaching 1.787 million people, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, 844,600 of them worked in the public sector, down 2.3% year-on-year, while 942,800 were employed in the non-state sector, up 4%.

Of the hired employees, 18.8% worked in trade and vehicle repair, 17.8% in education, 13.9% in industry, 8.6% in healthcare and social services, 6.7% in construction, and 6.1% in public administration and defense, as well as social security.

Another 4.4% were employed in transport and warehousing, 3.9% in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.4% in financial and insurance activities, 2.3% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, and 15.1% in other sectors of the economy.
