Armenia says there is no way out of impasse with CSTO

Armenia has frozen its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for several years and sees no way out of the current situation, Armenian lawmaker Sarkis Khandanyan said.

Report, citing Armenian media, informs that Khandanyan made the remarks during a briefing while commenting on a statement by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

Galuzin had said that the issue of stripping Armenia of its voting rights in the CSTO could be discussed at the organization's summit on November 11.

"There are no reasons or circumstances that could make us intensify our participation in the CSTO. You know what problems caused Armenia to freeze its participation, and these problems have still not been resolved," Khandanyan said.

The lawmaker represents Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party.
