Bulgaria records sharp increase in COVID cases

A sharp increase in coronavirus cases has been recorded in Bulgaria. Over the past day, the country’s sanitary services registered 3,449 new cases of COVID, an increase of 2,200 from a day earlier, while the number of positive tests increased from 5% to 9.4% of the total number of tests, Report informs referring to TASS.
As many as 162 COVID patients died (93% of them were not vaccinated), taking the total fatalities to 30,819 since the outset of the pandemic.
In Bulgaria, 4,071 patients are treated in hospitals, including 462 in intensive care units.
Until the end of March 2022, an epidemiological emergency regime is in force in Bulgaria with QR code, a negative PCR test (valid for 72 hours) or antigen test (48 hours) needed to enter institutions, large shops, theaters, museums, catering establishments and other public places.
About 30% of the population over 12 years old (about 1.9 million people) is fully vaccinated in Bulgaria.
