Yared Teshome Geneti: Ethiopia is shifting its approach to urbanization towards opportunities

The human-centric transformation of Addis Ababa will serve as an example for other cities in Ethiopia, stated the Head of Ethiopia's Urban Program, Yared Teshome Geneti, at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, the changes in the capital are not local but nationwide in nature.

"These transformations serve as an example for the remaining 76 cities of Ethiopia. Previously, urbanization was perceived as a threat - land grabbing, overpopulation. But we have shifted this logic toward a perspective of opportunities. Urbanization is an opportunity if managed properly," Geneti said.
