Emin Huseynzada: Main purpose of info sessions is to inform public about WUF13

WUF13 information sessions being held in various cities across Azerbaijan are mainly aimed at informing the public about the forum, WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company Communications Manager Emin Huseynzada said.

He made the remarks to journalists during an information session dedicated to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) at Sumgayit State University, Report informs.

Huseynzada said WUF13 creates broad opportunities not only for Baku residents, but also for young people in the regions, particularly in Sumgayit.

He said Sumgayit's proximity to Baku would allow thousands of people living there to physically participate in the forum events and gain new knowledge on urban planning and sustainable development. He added that young people would also have the opportunity to share their views on an international platform.

Huseynzada recalled that similar forums had previously been held in cities such as Barcelona, Vancouver, Rio de Janeiro, Naples, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, Katowice and Cairo.

He said the main purpose of these forums was to strengthen international cooperation on the future of cities, sustainable urbanization, climate challenges and improving people's quality of life.

He added that the main topics of discussion during the forum would include creating a safe and sustainable living environment, inclusive and accessible urban development, climate-resilient cities, and the participation of young people and communities in urban governance.
