The Google Chrome browser will no longer work on computers and laptops produced earlier than 2005, Report informs, referring to RIA Novosti.
The Chrome 89 update will drop support for x86 processors without Supplemental Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 (SSE3) commands. This will mainly affect platforms up to 2005 release. If a PC based on a Celeron M chip can still be upgraded to the current Windows 10, it won’t receive the new Chrome browser.
Chrome 87 and later users will receive end of support messages in the coming weeks. Google’s unpopular move will only affect Windows, as ChromeOS, Android, and Mac already require SSE3-capable processors.
