UK Lord Graham Brady impressed by reconstruction efforts in Shusha

The scale of reconstruction in Azerbaijan's liberated territories is impressive, including in Shusha, where conditions are being created for the return of internally displaced persons, (IDPs), Member of the UK House of Lords Graham Stuart Brady has said.

According to Report's correspondent in Shusha, Brady made the remarks during a visit to the city as part of the 4th International Conference on Missing Persons within the framework of the Baku Dialogue.

"We can see the efforts being made to rebuild the city and the community. New facilities are being constructed, including a mosque, as well as homes, schools and medical facilities needed for people to return," he said.

Brady noted that the new housing would enable displaced people to return with their families and make Shusha their home again.

"We've been very impressed to see what's being done," he emphasized.

He also shared his impressions of the conference dedicated to the issue of missing persons. According to Brady, he was particularly moved by the stories of people who have spent years without knowing the fate of their loved ones.

"We heard about how this issue affects individuals, families, and entire communities, and not knowing the fate of their loved ones, not having that ability to have closure," he noted.

Brady also said he was deeply impressed by his visit to the Khojaly Genocide Memorial and learning about the history of Karabakh.
