The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) intends to significantly expand its presence on the African continent, Pawel Krasny, head of Gender Equality and Economic Inclusion at the EBRD, said at the panel session as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
As Pawel Krasny noted, the financial institution, originally established to facilitate the transition of post-Soviet states to market economies, is gradually expanding its geographic reach.
"The EBRD is preparing to begin operations in six new countries, three of which are in French-speaking Africa. We are currently in discussions with Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, and Benin, and are also exploring cooperation with Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. Expanding our operations into these fast-growing markets will allow us to leverage our existing expertise to promote inclusive economic development, support small businesses, and advance gender equality in the region," emphasized Krasny.
