Religious leaders have an important responsibility to contribute to peace, mutual respect, social harmony and dialogue between communities, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center Ravan Hasanov said.
According to Report, Hasanov made the remarks during a panel session of the First International Scientific and Practical Conference dedicated to Azerbaijani thinker and scholar Sheikh Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, held in Baku as part of the seventh meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States.
He noted that religious leaders share a common responsibility to promote understanding, spiritual values and peaceful coexistence.
"Such dialogue is particularly important in a rapidly changing world. Religion continues to play an important role in shaping the spiritual and cultural life of societies. Religious leaders also have an important responsibility to contribute to peace, mutual respect, social harmony and dialogue between communities. The fact that this important meeting is being held in Azerbaijan and accompanied by a conference dedicated to Sheikh Seyid Yahya Bakuvi carries particular significance," Hasanov said.
Hasanov emphasized that Bakuvi's legacy serves as an important bridge between the past and the present.
"This point demonstrates that our common heritage is not only a means of maintaining our connection with history, but can also serve as a foundation for future cooperation," he added.
