There is serious potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tuvalu in the field of solar-diesel power plants.
Tuvalu's Minister of Public Works, Infrastructure Development and Water Resources, Ampelosa Manoa Tehulu, told Report on the sidelines of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
"Azerbaijan has recently made noticeable progress in improving its water resources management system, modernizing infrastructure and introducing water-saving technologies. As for Tuvalu, land scarcity remains the main problem. When land resources are available, opportunities for construction arise - you have large areas for this. We have very little land.
At the same time, I believe the issue of water security is very acute for Tuvalu. This is a disaster we face every day. There are no natural rivers in our country. We are completely dependent on rainfall. No rain means no water. Therefore, great potential opens up for joint work in this area," the minister stressed.
According to Tehulu, another promising area of partnership is the transition to solar-diesel power plants.
"This is an excellent idea. We are making efforts to switch to solar-diesel plants. I believe we can also establish cooperation in this direction. Nevertheless, the water problem still remains a daily disaster. We need the support of your specialists," the minister added.
