Aysel Yagubova: Regional cooperation is key factor in Azerbaijan's energy transition

Regional cooperation is one of the key factors for Azerbaijan's successful energy transition and the development of cross-border green energy projects, said Aysel Yagubova, Executive Director of the ECO Clean Energy Center, according to Report.

Speaking at a panel discussion held within the framework of the Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Baku, Yagubova said that the energy transition cannot be achieved by any single country alone under current global conditions.

She noted that it requires the creation of larger energy markets, development of cross-border energy infrastructure, and active exchange of technologies and innovation.

Yagubova said Azerbaijan has been systematically promoting renewable energy development over the past 15 years, adding that the climate agenda became a national priority even before COP29.

She also highlighted the importance of ongoing initiatives to develop green energy corridors linking the Caspian region, Central Asia, and Europe.

"Regional cooperation allows countries to exchange experience, learn from best practices, and accelerate the energy transition," she said.

She added that Azerbaijan initiated the establishment of the ECO Clean Energy Center on its territory and was selected as the host country following a competitive selection process.
