World Teachers' Day marked today

World Teachers' Day is being marked today.

According to Report, on this day in 1966, the first international document, "Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers," was adopted at a conference jointly organized by UNESCO and the International Labour Organization (ILO), defining the conditions of teachers' professional activities.

In 1994, UNESCO established this date as World Teachers' Day. The date is also included in the UN's list of international and world days. Its purpose is to draw attention to the status of teachers in society, as well as their significant role in education and social development.

Teachers' Day is observed in more than 100 countries around the world, while in some countries it is celebrated nationally on different dates.

In Azerbaijan, meanwhile, the day has been celebrated since 1993.
