EMSC General Assembly discusses improving earthquake monitoring systems

A meeting of the General Assembly of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) was held as part of the 40th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission (ESC).
According to Report, the Republican Seismic Survey Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) said the meeting addressed real-time earthquake monitoring, the exchange of seismological data, expanding international cooperation, improving systems for the rapid determination of earthquake parameters, and EMSC"s future areas of activity.
The Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS was represented at the event by Saida Ismayilova, Head of the Earthquake Research Bureau and PhD in Earth Sciences, and Sabina Kazimova, Head of the Earthquake Source Dynamics Department, PhD in Geology and Mineralogy and Associate Professor. Representatives of the Center attended the meeting online via Zoom.
Participants exchanged views on current trends in the development of European seismology, new approaches to seismicity monitoring, the international exchange of real-time seismological data, and prospects for scientific cooperation among seismological organizations.
The EMSC General Assembly, held as part of the ESC General Assembly, was described as an important platform for strengthening scientific and institutional cooperation among seismological communities in Europe and the Mediterranean region.
