Quality infrastructure in Azerbaijan will be managed under a unified policy.
Report informs that Khamis Seyranov, Director General of the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI), which operates under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President, said this during a media tour organized by the institution.
According to him, the implementation of the program to modernize Azerbaijan's metrological infrastructure will be completed by the end of the year.
"The work being carried out is not limited only to the purchase of modern equipment. It is also aimed at strengthening human resources in the field of metrology in the country. Special training programs are organized to improve the professional knowledge and skills of employees. These trainings are mainly held at the National Metrology Service of brotherly Türkiye. As a result of these trainings, employees' knowledge and skills are improved. The work being carried out strengthens both the country's metrological infrastructure and its human resources," Seyranov said.
He added that products manufactured and placed on the market by Azerbaijani entrepreneurs must meet certain quality indicators.
"If a product does not meet quality requirements, it will not be able to find a place in global competition and will eventually be forced out of the market. Metrological services play an important role in confirming product quality," Seyranov said.
According to him, even the volume of products in an entrepreneur's warehouse is determined through measurements.
"An entrepreneur must know exactly how much product is in the warehouse, how much product has been sold and under what conditions the production process is carried out. All these assurances are related to measurements. They are measured and specified. These measurements are also ensured through metrological services," he said.
The Director General noted that incorrect laboratory measurements could pose risks to human health.
"The storage and transportation of analysis samples, as well as the quality of reagents used, require strict control. If the accuracy of measurements is not ensured, the analysis results will not be correct, and as a result, people may be given critically important but incorrect information. The compliance of laboratories with international standards is also confirmed through metrological inspections," Seyranov said.
