Majnun Mammadov: Transition from extensive to intensive farming methods is necessary

The main goal of the state program is to transition from extensive to intensive agriculture, Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said at the 100th anniversary Agro-Business Festival in Aghdam, according to Report.

"We need to abandon the approach of 'more crops, more livestock, more resources and more output.' We need to produce more with lower costs, increase the value of our products, ensure production to strengthen food security and expand exports of goods that generate foreign currency for the country," the minister said.

According to him, the task also involves processing products within the value chain and selling goods on domestic and foreign markets. "Exports should include not only raw materials, but also branded products with higher added value," he added.
