Türkiye quake death toll reaches 40,689

The death toll from the earthquake in Türkiye has risen to 40,689, said Yunus Sezer, head of Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), Report informs.
He noted that search and rescue operations have been completed in most of the cities that suffered from the natural disaster.
On February 6, two strong earthquakes occurred in the southeast of Türkiye, one of which was with an epicenter in the Pazarcik region of the city of Kahramanmaras with a magnitude of 7.7, the second - 9 hours later - in the Elbistan region of the same city with a magnitude of 7.6.
The natural disaster caused massive destruction and thousands of deaths in Türkiye and Syria.
