Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has held talks with Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche.
Report's Kazakhstan bureau informs, citing the government's press service, that the sides discussed the development of cooperation in the economy, investment, industry, energy, transport logistics and critical minerals.
Bektenov noted that Germany is one of Kazakhstan's key trade, economic and investment partners in the European Union. According to him, mutual trade between the two countries increased by 9.5% in 2025 compared with the previous year, reaching $4.4 billion.
The prime minister stressed that Kazakhstan is interested in moving from traditional trade and investment cooperation to more advanced industrial and technological cooperation.
"We are interested in taking industrial cooperation to a new level through the localization of production, technology transfer and the training of highly qualified personnel," Bektenov said.
Projects implemented by German companies CLAAS and Horsch in Kazakhstan's agricultural machinery sector were cited as examples of successful cooperation. According to the sides, the model of phased production localization could also be applied to other industrial sectors.
Reiche, in turn, praised Kazakhstan's development dynamics and said Germany is interested in expanding practical cooperation.
"German companies are actively investing in Kazakhstan's economy, but I am confident that this is far from the limit. The potential of our cooperation is significantly broader," the minister said.
Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to continue joint work to expand investment cooperation and launch new projects between Kazakhstan and Germany.
