The head of the opposition United National Movement party, Nika Melia, has been released from prison.
According to Report's local bureau, the Tbilisi City Court passed the decision at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Yesterday's appeal of the Prosecutor General's Office was related to the change of the measure of restraint in relation to Melia.
On May 8, the European Union paid a bail of 40,000 lari instead of the UNM chairman.
Melia was accused of committing group violence during a mass protest outside the parliament building in Tbilisi on the night of June 21, 2019. He was arrested on February 23 for refusing to pay bail. His arrest sparked a political crisis in the country.
