Fergus Auld: Lord John Alderdice will visit Azerbaijan by end of this year - EXCLUSIVE

Lord John Alderdice, a member of the British Parliament's House of Lords and UK Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan and Central Asia, will visit Azerbaijan by the end of 2025, British ambassador to Baku, Fergus Auld, told Report during the Baku Climate Week.

"Lord John Alderdice, UK Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan, will arrive in the country before the end of the year. Other visits are planned, which I cannot yet reveal. But, as you understand, a number of visits are expected from both sides in the areas of security and defense, trade and investment, education, and innovation," the diplomat noted.

The ambassador recalled that several weeks ago, UK Minister for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty visited Baku, where he agreed with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership. Further high-level visits are planned as part of this plan.

Fergus Auld also emphasized that the UK remains the largest foreign investor in Azerbaijan. According to him, London intends to maintain this flow of investment, directing it primarily into the areas of green energy and sustainable infrastructure.
