A court in northern China's Shanxi Province has sentenced 41 people to prison after finding them guilty of multiple offences related to a series of major mine accidents.
Report informs via Xinhua that, according to the investigation, the defendants committed a range of illegal acts, including awarding earthworks and mining contracts to several unqualified teams, failing to develop comprehensive emergency response plans and using unlicensed vehicles in mining operations.
These actions resulted in 48 major fatal accidents and 54 deaths between 2006 and 2022.
The court sentenced the defendants to prison terms ranging from one to 16 years, depending on the severity of their offences.
