AZAL cancels four flights due to restrictions in Russian airspace

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has temporarily suspended several flights on the Baku-Moscow-Baku route.

According to AZAL, cited by Report, changes have been made to flights J2-185/J2-186 on the Baku-Moscow (Domodedovo)-Baku route and J2-805/J2-806 on the Baku-Moscow (Vnukovo)-Baku route, scheduled for October 9, due to restrictions imposed in Russian airspace.

Flight J2-185, which departed Baku for Moscow in the morning, made an emergency landing in St. Petersburg. The aircraft was unable to return to Baku after restrictions in Russian airspace were reintroduced. Meanwhile, morning flight J2-805 from Baku to Moscow returned to Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The existing restrictions have also affected the aircraft's ability to reach their destination airports on time and operate subsequent flights. As a result, the evening flights J2-186 and J2-806 on the respective routes have also been postponed.

Azerbaijan's national air carrier is closely monitoring the situation and taking measures to provide passengers with the necessary assistance. Passengers will be informed of changes to the flight schedule through the airline's official information channels.

Passenger and flight safety remains AZAL's top priority. All operational decisions are being made in consideration of the prevailing circumstances and safety requirements.
